The central theme in my work is the figure in water and aims to communicate both figurative and abstract elements. I work mainly in oil paint on canvas.

My fascination with the figure in water began over ten years ago when I realised that I could combine many of my artistic concerns in one subject; movement, the figure, abstraction, light, feelings and mark making. A residency at Tooting Bec Lido in 1999 was the starting point for several different bodies of work including the Constellation series and the large semi abstract figures.

My most recent body of work focuses on elite swimmers training for the Olympics and Paralympics 2012 and the young swimmers they are inspiring. I recently undertook a commission to depict elite swimmer Emma Hollis who aims to compete in the 2012 Paralympics. Next year the work will be on permanent display as part of the legacy of the games.

I regularly exhibit my work in the UK and abroad including; Cork Street Open Exhibition, The Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, APT Gallery, Affordable Art Fair, Pictura Gallery, Netherlands and Brockley Open Studios. My paintings of swimmers are in many private collections and my work has been commissioned for several commercial premises and swimming pools.

Since 2000 I have regularly worked as an artist in residence in schools and with museums and galleries. I am also director of an international arts group called Eddy which I set up in 2008 to curate exhibitions with other artists in the UK and abroad and deliver art educational projects.
